Well this is it! It's finally here...graduation day! I am sitting here watching the snow fall outside my window (it just won't stop!) anxiously awaiting 5:00 to roll around. I've still got a while, is only 8:00 am. It's funny...I don't really feel any different...I don't really feel any smarter...and don't tell my patients, but I honestly don't feel qualified to be graduating from nursing school! But when I truly think about how much I have learned in the last two years....HOLY SMOKES...I guess I do really know a lot! And I will look back on this day in three months and then I will be able to see and I will say....GEEZE, I really have come a long way!
So I have finished all classess, papers, and tests (except the BIG one) and Jentry finished his Final of Death (O-CHEM final) last night and school is officially over! So what now? Well we are going to take the weekend off and mill aroud: Party it up at Rockport friday night with friends and fam, go support Dad and the NS Braves at the State Softball tournament on Saturday, maybe throw in a little rock climbing. Next week we are going down to goblin valley to play and celebrate a little with the CON class of 2008. Good times.
Upon return I will go back to the Huntsman Cancer Hospital (where I have been working for the past year) and I will cover nuses' aide shifts untill grades and diplomas are posted and then my Temporary Liscence will be valid. Then I can start orienting as a REAL NURSE! I will probably orient for about four weeks and then I will be ON MY OWN! Scary to think about, and very humbling! I will be working in the Special Care Unit at Huntsman. It is a six bed step down ICU. It is a good place for me to start out because I am familliar with the unit and I feel comfortable there, but it will still offer me challenges but not be too overwhelming!
Right now Jentry is planning on sticking with his job as a tech in the angio department at Intermountan Medical Center. He took the MCAT two weeks ago and is awaiting his score. He will start submitting applications to medical school in June. He is taking the summer off from school, but will go back in the fall to finish his Spanish Major. He will also keep translating at primary children's once a week, a volunteer position that he absolutely loves!

Thanks for the wonderful comments on my blog. I know that it really touched my mom, and it made me feel even more proud of our entire family knowing that we all realize how much our parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins care for one another and how far we will go to help one another. I know I haven't said it enough, but I am truley amazed at how strong you, your sister, and your dad have been over the past two years. Things have changed so much, but you all charge ahead, knowing that your family, and God cares for you and will see you through it all.
I hope your dad realizes how proud of you and Julie he should be. Congratulations on graduation, to Jentry as well, and good luck in the future. Take care Heidi!!
