Goblin Valley

The week after graduation, Jentry and I took off to spend a few days in one of my family's favorite places, Goblin Valley! We were accompanied by Christina, a friend from nursing school, and her husband Thane. We all packed the four of us and all our camping gear into the ford focus and headed down to Goblin Valley. It was a pretty cramped ride, but we made it alive! After arriving at Goblin Valley State Park and setting up our camp we spent several hours exploring Goblins. We hiked, climbed, and shimmied our way through the unique sandstone formations.

It was Jentry's first time visiting Goblin Valley and he thought it was extremely cool! The next day we hiked the Bell canyon little Wild Horse Canyon loop. Little Wild Horse Canyon is one of the neatest slot canyons in southern Utah and again we found ourselves hiking, climbing, shimmying, squeezing, and even crawling at times! It was well worth the effort.
On our final day we packed up camp and then ventured 30 miles out on a dirt road (trying to avoid sand, rocks, and yes, even cows!) to Horshoe Canyon trail head. This canyon has some of the best preserved Native American art and artifacts in the country. The highlight of the hike was the famous Grand Gallery at the end of the trail. The hike back to the car was hot and sandy, but we finally did make it. Then we packed ourselves back into the car and drove home. The weather was beautiful and we had a fun time. It was the perfect start to summer!
